WELCOME!
Here at SCPCPH, music is an integral part of the worship service. Celebrate and share your musical gifts by exploring one of the many musical opportunities here at Steele Creek. Whether you’re a beginning musician just starting out on their musical journey, or a seasoned player interested in sharing your passion, we’d love to have you make music with us.
Our services are thoroughly infused with music-making so that each and every person in the sanctuary has the chance to participate if the Lord moves your heart. For those with a desire to contribute more, there are opportunities to sing in the choir, participate in small ensembles, or perform as a soloist. All skill levels are welcome, and the ability of our participants range from enthusiastic volunteers to professional musicians.
SANCTUARY CHOIR
The Sanctuary Choir members share the common vision of creating music that inspires us to lift our hearts to God in praise. Rehearsals encompass a wide range of repertoire styles, along with educational opportunities for vocal technique, choral sound production, music theory, sight reading, and reflection on why music moves our hearts. In addition, time for fellowship activities to facilitate group bonding (i.e. FUN) is mixed into the schedule. You do NOT need to be an experienced chorister because you’ll have access to rehearsal tracks in order to sing at home or on the road. The requirements for membership are enthusiasm, energy, and effort. We welcome interested singers to drop in to any of our rehearsals.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Ages: 14 and up
Audition? No
BELLS/CHIMES
All 3 of our bell groups here at SCPCPH delight in providing worshipful and rousing music regularly throughout the year and for special occasions, including community service events. On our 5 octaves of Malmark Handbells and 3 octaves of Malmark ChoirChimes, ringers are introduced to healthy ringing techniques, sight reading skills, and beautiful music from around the world. Participation in festivals and other group activities is optional (and so very fun!). Music reading skills preferred,* but not required (we also need subs!). We even have a bell tree if you’d like to try your hand at solo bell ringing!
*If you wish to audition for Bronze, you must be an excellent music reader.
